This St. Patrick’s Day, the Escondido Police Department will be on alert for suspected impaired drivers and reminds the community to celebrate the holiday responsibly.

Additional officers will be on patrol March 17 looking for drivers suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

During the 2019 St. Patrick’s Day holiday period, nearly half of all traffic deaths throughout the country involved a drunk driver.

The Escondido Police Department wants to warn the community that alcohol is not the only substance that can cause impairment. Cannabis, prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, and illegal drugs can all lead to a DUI.

If you ever see a suspected drunk driver on the road, call 911.

Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Este día de San Patricio, el Departamento de Policía de Escondido estará en alerta para conductores posibles ebrios y le recuerda a la comunidad que celebre la festividad de manera responsable.

Oficiales adicionales patrullarán el 17 de marzo en busca de conductores sospechosos de conducir bajo la influencia del alcohol o las drogas.

Durante el período de celebraciones del Día de San Patricio en 2019, casi la mitad de todas las muertes de tránsito en todo el país involucraron a un conductor ebrio.

El Departamento de Policía de Escondido quiere advertir a la comunidad que el alcohol no es la única sustancia que puede causar deterioro. El cannabis, los medicamentos recetados, los medicamentos de venta libre y las drogas ilegales pueden conducir a un DUI.

Si alguna vez ve a un presunto conductor ebrio en la carretera, llame al 911.
