SUBJECTS IN STOLEN SUV COLLIDE WITH LIGHT POLE

On 06/15/2021 at approximately 7:57 a.m., Escondido Police and Fire units responded to the area of Ash St and Vista Ave regarding a traffic collision.  Police learned that several subjects in a stolen maroon Ford Escape were driving at a high rate of speed and side swiped a black Honda Civic.  The stolen Ford Escape lost control and struck a light pole, injuring three of the occupants.  Witnesses reported that possibly two occupants of the Ford Escape fled on foot from the scene.

The crash occurred in the area of Rincon Middle School, which was requested to go on lock down out of an abundance of caution.  One of the outstanding subjects is believed to be in custody and one may still be outstanding.  The three injured occupants from the stolen Ford Escape were all transported to local hospitals, two in serious condition.  The Honda Civic was occupied by two individuals who both initially reported being unharmed.

This crash is currently being investigated by the Escondido Police Department Traffic Division.  Anyone with information regarding crash is encouraged to contact the Escondido Police Department at 760-839-4722.
