On December 23, 2021, at 12:34 p.m., the Escondido Police Department received a report of a crash involving a motorcycle at the intersection of Bear Valley Parkway and Hayden Dr. The caller also advised that it appeared CPR was being performed on the motorcycle rider.

According to witness statements and evidence at the scene, a white 2018 Lexus NX300 had been struck by a blue and white 2006 Yamaha YZF450 off-road motorcycle. It should be noted this motorcycle is designed for off-road use only and is not street legal. The motorcyclist had been riding at a high rate of speed, north on the east sidewalk of Bear Valley Parkway. As the rider approached Hayden Drive, he drove onto the street and failed to stop for the red traffic signal. The Lexus, which had a green traffic signal, began to make a left turn onto southbound Bear Valley Parkway and was struck by the motorcycle. The motorcyclist was transported to Palomar Medical Center where he later died. The driver of the Lexus was not injured in the crash.

The driver of the Lexus has been identified as a 30-year-old female Escondido resident. The motorcyclist has not yet been identified.

This crash is under investigation by Officer Pete McCollough of the Escondido Police Department Traffic Division. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is encouraged to contact Officer McCollough 760-839-4930.

El 23 de diciembre de 2021, a las 12:34 p. m., el Departamento de Policía de Escondido recibió un reporte de un accidente de una motocicleta en la intersección de Bear Valley Parkway y Hayden Dr. La persona que llamó también informó que parecía que se estaba recibiendo RCP al motociclista.
 

Según declaraciones de testigos y pruebas en el lugar, un Lexus NX300 blanco 2018 había sido golpeado por una motocicleta todoterreno Yamaha YZF450 azul y blanca 2006. Cabe destacar que esta motocicleta está diseñada solo para uso fuera de la carretera y no es legal para la calle. El motociclista estaba viajando a gran velocidad, hacia el norte por la acera este de Bear Valley Parkway. Cuando el motociclista se acercaba a Hayden Drive, siguió conduciendo y no se detuvo ante el semáforo en rojo. El Lexus, que tenía el semáforo en verde, comenzó a girar a la izquierda en Bear Valley Parkway en dirección sur y fue atropellado por la motocicleta. El motociclista fue trasladado al Palomar Medical Center donde posteriormente falleció. El conductor del Lexus no resultó herido en el accidente.

La conductora del Lexus ha sido identificada como una residente de Escondido de 30 años. El motociclista aún no ha sido identificado.

Este accidente está siendo investigado por el oficial Pete McCollough de la División de Tráfico del Departamento de Policía de Escondido. Se recomienda a cualquier persona que haya presenciado el accidente que se comunique con el oficial McCollough al 760-839-4930.
